This issue of the INTERCOM introduces an updated approach to sharing LWVE news. The old approach: All articles for an issue were combined into a single, formatted document. The new way: Each will be a separate webpage. You can go directly to an article that intrigues you from the eBlast announcing the issue or from an annotated table of contents on our website.
Why make this change? To increase our reach and to help us better carry out key LWVE missions, including enhancing civic participation and understanding of community issues.
• Many topics we cover are of broad interest to people in Evanston, Skokie, and beyond. With the new format, it will be easier for members—and non-members—to locate articles on issues they care about via Internet searches.
• We’ll gain flexibility. For example, it will be easier to link from an article to related online resources both within and outside the LWVE website. Outside groups will be able to easily link to our articles too.
• We anticipate that the new format will have increased appeal to a more diverse audience.
There may be growing pains as we all adapt to this new approach, but those of us who produce the Intercom are excited about the changes. We think you’ll like the new INTERCOM too!
