Our Voter Services team has been out and about in the community, meeting and encouraging voters, and will be engaging more voters in the coming months.
LWVUS/LUSH Partnership
LWVE participated in the LWVUS partnership with cosmetics retailer LUSH through a voter education event on October 11. Julie Zweigoron and I greeted customers at a table at the front entrance of the LUSH store at the Old Orchard mall. People were definitely surprised to see us there. “Are you registered to vote at your current address?” was our typical opener, and we answered questions about the upcoming primary election and shared information about becoming an election judge. It was a wonderfully fragrant experience!
Voter Services Planning Meeting
We had an engaged group on October 22 at the Skokie Public Library for our annual Voter Services meeting. The attendees included a number of relatively new League members from both Evanston and Skokie. Thanks to the following members for presenting and helping me answer questions: Gail Weisberg (Poll Watching Project), Tori Wible (VOTE411), Jennifer O’Neil (VPAC) and the always helpful Mary Kelly. We also spent time talking about candidate forums, as reported in this issue’s
article on the 9th Congressional Primary.
