LWVE Members Participate in June 14 “No Kings” Protest

by Joan Linsenmeier

We listened, we sang, we chanted, and we defended democracy.

A recent League of Women Voters statement declared, “There is nothing more fundamentally American than protesting injustice. Protest is how our nation began, protest is how our rights were secured, and protest is the very foundation of a healthy democracy.” On June 14, 2025 protests took place across the United States in support of our democracy and in opposition to actions that threaten it. LWVE members were among the hundreds of people who participated in the protest at Evanston's Fountain Square.

LWVE members were also among the active participants and spectators for community events on Juneteenth and the Fourth of July.
